EWIVS – About us, A portrait of our certification body
EWIVS | PORTRAIT
The work of experts and specialists always requires a high level of professional and personal competence as well as trust in reliable action. Directive 2006/123/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of December 12, 2006 on services in the internal market introduced a uniform EU procedure for the certification of persons. This procedure is based on the internationally recognized EN ISO/IEC 17024 standard and enables bodies organized under private law to check and confirm special qualifications and competencies.
This development prompted the founding of the European Economic Interest Grouping of Experts (EWIVS) in 2012. The aim was to establish an independent certification body that fully meets the market’s demand for trust in the competence of experts and specialists. Registered on 16 March 2012 in Chemnitz/Saxony and since 1 March 2024 a specially founded certification company in Salzburg, our change of location reflects the increasing globalization.
Our self-image is based on the highest quality standards, as exemplified by our founding members, the DGSV e.V. and the European Experts Group Ltd. Both associations have many years of experience in the expert witness sector. Today, we share these standards unreservedly with a new strategic orientation throughout Europe, hence our headquarters in Salzburg, Austria.
For us, competent and careful certification means strict compliance with normative framework conditions and adherence to our own program and process specifications. In this way, we ensure independent, transparent and reliable certification procedures. We attach great importance to the design and definition of the subject-specific competence requirements for obtaining and maintaining personal certification.
We place high demands not only on the experts and specialists seeking certification with the EWIVS, but also on ourselves and our committee members on the program and audit committees. We were able to successfully demonstrate our comprehensive understanding of quality right from the start through accreditation by the NIILA for our programs in the expert witness sector.
Based on the guidelines of our quality policy, we now certify independent experts in several specialist areas in accordance with the demanding and internationally recognized procedural criteria of the EN ISO/IEC 17024 standard. We act as an impartial and professionally independent body for the certification of persons.
We support and advise our experts and specialists personally and individually in all aspects of their personal certification. This quality standard is particularly important to us.
